Admissions

Reaching out for help for a behavioral health concern can be overwhelming, especially if you’ve never sought treatment before. At Signature Psychiatric Hospital, we strive to make our admissions process as worry-free as possible.

Our Admissions Criteria

Signature Psychiatric Hospital provides a wide range of treatment options for people who are struggling with a variety of mental health concerns, including:

  • Antisocial personality disorder
  • Anxiety disorders
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Borderline personality disorder
  • Depression
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
  • Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Schizophrenia
  • Social anxiety disorder
  • Suicidal ideation

We also provide care for people who are suffering from addictions to alcohol, benzodiazepines, and opioids, along with those who have both a mental health and substance use disorder, or a dual diagnosis.

General admissions criteria for inpatient treatment include:

  • Age 18 or older
  • A danger to self or others
  • Impaired judgment
  • Unable to function in daily life

We also offer residential treatment for adults who are suffering from addictions, and outpatient programming for adults whose needs don’t rise to the level of inpatient treatment.

Please note that this is just an overview of our admissions criteria. If a person believes that they need professional support, they can get an initial assessment to determine whether they may benefit from behavioral health treatment with us.

Getting an Assessment

At Signature Psychiatric Hospital, we provide a thorough assessment at no cost to you, either by phone or in person, to determine the level of behavioral health services you may need.

Our North Kansas City, Missouri, location provides in-person assessments from 8 a.m.-10 p.m. seven days a week, while our Liberty, Missouri, location offers assessments by phone.

However, you may receive an in-person assessment at our North Kansas City location and, if appropriate, be admitted to our Liberty location.

Those who need an assessment after 10 p.m. can call to schedule one. If you are experiencing an emergency, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

A Streamlined Process

Our priority is to get you the help you need with minimal delay, so we strive to gather the information and documents needed as quickly as possible without sacrificing accuracy.

This typically happens in just a few conversations, during which we will collect your demographic, payment, and insurance information, along with your medical history and any relevant medical records.

If you have a referring provider you would like us to work with, we will also gather that information at that time, including a signed release of information (ROI).

Once this is complete, we will work with you to set an admission date at the appropriate location.
